Three seminars with readings and reflections on the craft of writing
One of the most prestigious and sought-after Italian literary prizes that for almost 70 years has inflamed cultural passions and debates, for some writers the Premio Strega has represented the consecration of a long career while for others it has acted as a powerful trampoline. Accompanied by Stefano Petrocchi, director of the Fondazione Bellonci, the prize-winning authors – Paolo Cognetti, Fabio Genovesi and Walter Siti – reflect on the craft of writing in the light of the watershed that winning the prize has represented for them.
In the first seminar we shall be meeting Paolo Cognetti, the winner in July 2017 of the LXXI edition of the Premio Strega and the IV edition of the Premio Strega Giovani with his latest book, Le otto montagne (Einaudi 2016).
Paolo Cognetti was born in Milan in 1978. He has published for minimum fax Manuale per ragazze di successo (2004), Una cosa piccola che sta per esplodere (2007), Sofia si veste sempre di nero (2012) and A pesca nelle pozze più profonde(2014). On the theme of mountains he has published Il ragazzo selvatico (Terre di mezzo 2013). He has also edited the anthology of stories New York Stories (Einaudi 2015).
