History, beauty, peoples, and myths—but also the dangers and tensions that threaten the Great Sea today.
The exhibition’s itinerary represents the Mediterranean in all its complexity through immersive installations and previously unseen satellite images, in dialogue with significant loans from the Museo delle Civiltà, the Museo Nazionale Etrusco di Villa Giulia, the Museo Nazionale Romano, and the Società Geografica Italiana, alongside a selection of works from the MAXXI Collection by Rossella Biscotti, Nicolò Degiorgis, and Luca Trevisani.
It is a synthesis of science and art, past and present, with extraordinary emotional impact. Yet, it is also an invitation to reflect on the urgent need to protect the natural heritage of this Great Sea.
An exhibition realised by Fondazione MAXXI and Fondazione Med-Or in collaboration with the Italian Space Agency, Telespazio, the European Space Agency and e-GEOS. The project is promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
