The exhibition showcases Galleria Pieroni’s historical archive, tracing its activity in its historic venues in Pescara and Rome between 1975 and 1992.

Preceded in 1970 by Il Mondo delle Idee, a production centre exploring the intersections between art and everyday life, Mario Pieroni’s gallery opened in 1975 at the Bagno Borbonico in Pescara with Luciano Fabro’s renowned Allestimento teatrale It was followed by exhibitions featuring Jannis Kounellis, Mario Merz, and Vettor Pisani.

In 1979, the gallery moved to Rome, settling in Via Panisperna, and inaugurated its new space with a group exhibition featuring De Dominicis, Kounellis, and Spalletti. Throughout the 1980s, the gallery became an international reference point for conceptual art research in Rome, witnessing the ‘return’ of painting.

The archive was preserved at the headquarters of the Zerynthia Association until 2022 when MAXXI acquired it. Following an extensive cataloguing process, it is now accessible to the public.
