The documentary: “Speaks of a war, of fading memory, of a challenge against the passing of time”, and was made by one of the world’s most important documentary filmmakers, aged 92, together with a barricadero author of today.
It is the story of a film about Vietnam that has never been made, of a couple of boxes full of photos of that war-torn country found in the attic, like in a novel, of a director as combative and resilient as the Vietnamese peasant women who took up arms against the most powerful army in the world in the ‘60s. Amazing images, surprising editing: this is the Italian premiere, after the world premiere at the Rotterdam Film Festival.
The documentary will be preceded by the short film Abbassa l’Italia by Giuseppe Cacace and Alfredo Fiorillo, Italy 2019, 15′, out of competition.
by Cecilia Mangini, Paolo Pisanelli, Italy 2019, 60′
Cinema at MAXXI is produced by Fondazione Cinema per Roma CityFest, Fondazione MAXXI and Alice nella Città.
