more information

The book on which the event is based analyses the work from artistic, historical, physical, philosophical, economic and cultural perspectives in seventeen essays.

In May 1961, Piero Manzoni (1933–1963) produced 90 small tins: the label bore the words ‘Artist’s Shit’ in four languages. From then until now, the work – on display in Tragicomica. Perspectives on Italian Art from the Late 20th Century to the Present – has been criticised, acclaimed, misrepresented, cited and misunderstood like few others.
