performanceBeatrice MarchiLoredana’s Friends (Looking for Young Aspiring Dancers for the Missing Scene of the Ballet)

MAXXI auditorium
free admittance

An open-to-the-public audition for a dance that will give Loredana the final scene in her music video.

Loredana is a recurring character in Beatrice Marchi’s work: a young woman with prawn-like claws who features in videos, performances and installations. She appears in turn as a masseuse, a waitress or a dancer, in an attempt – doomed to failure each time – to establish herself as a professional.

Each role turns into a tragicomic adventure, marked by social expectations and the quiet stubbornness of someone who longs to belong to a group, yet never quite manages to do so.

The performance centres on auditions to take part in the missing scene from the music video Loredana’s Friends, featured in the exhibition Tragicomica. Perspectives on Italian art from the mid-20th century to today.
