The collaboration between the Rome Film Fest and MAXXI continues this year too
The Rome Film Fest is back from 26 October to 5 November and will be bringing you to MAXXI: holders of a ticket or accreditation for the 12th edition will be offered reduced price museum entrance of €8*.
Protagonists from the world of film will be walking the red carpet at the Auditorium and will feature in the Close Encounters: expected among others are David Lynch – recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award – Ian McKellen, Xavier Dolan, Jake Gyllenhaal, Chuck Palahniuk and Vanessa Redgrave. The opening film will be Scott Cooper’s Hostiles, a western rooted in the finest traditions of American film and starring the Oscar winner Christian Bale. Junji Shimizu’s Mazinga Z Infinity will then be given its worldwide debut in collaboration with Alice nella Città. The eagerly awaited film will be accompanied by the celebrated mangaka Gō Nagai. Making this edition of the festival all the more enticing are previews, tributes, retrospectives, exhibitions and more.
As always, the festival takes in a number of locations around the capital: from the Villaggio del Cinema to the city’s movie theatres such as the Cinema Trevi and the My Citiplex Europa, from the Casa del Cinema to Rebibbia Nuovo Complesso and Rebibbia Femminile, through to MAXXI and beyond, hosting a broad and challenging programme of screenings, seminars, tributes, special events and panels: 39 films and documentaries in the Official Selection, of which three in collaboration with Alice nella città, 12 Close Encounters along with the Tributes and Restoration and Other events sections and much more, with the involvement this year of a total of 31 countries.
