The mysteries of modern science explained in clear, accessible manner
A marathon of documentary films from the National Geographic library, on the occasion of the exhibition Gravity. Imaging the universe after Einstein.

Quando la scienza ha sconfitto la paura, 45’
There was a time, not long ago, in which natural events could be explained only as divine manifestations, unexpected gestures of capricious gods, which one should never contradict. In this stage of our exploration we go back in time to the scientific revolution, when Isaac Newton made history by writing his Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy, before returning to the great modern discoveries, such as those of the Dutch astronomer Jan Oort.

Un cielo infestato dai fantasmi, 45’
Light, time and gravity coalesce to distort our perception of the universe. The theories of Issac Newton, Michael Faraday William Herschel and James Clerk Maxwell helped explain the nature of electromagnetic waves and gravitational force and their work led to Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. Our journey will see us exploring dark stars, which are not visible but measurable by tracing other stars trapped in their gravitational pull, and black holes with their enormous gravitational forces that can even capture light.
