Yacht Architecture Program. Naval architecture seminars
YAP Space – MAXXI Piazza
curated by Domitilla Dardi
The relationship between architecture and yachting has historical roots: from Le Corbusier to Renzo Piano many architects have seen in yacht design an aspect of habitation rich in opportunity for reflection.
MAXXI plays host the Yacht Architecture Program, three seminars with some of the leading international figures in the field who will be discussing their work in terms of land, water and wind.
Wednesday 26 June, 20.00
The House of Ulysses
with Claudio Lazzarini and Carl Pickering
Founders in 1982 of the studio Lazzarini Pickering Architetti, Claudio Lazzarini and Carl Pickering open the cycle with a discussion of the revolution in yacht interiors of recent years and how issues of static domestic habitation have been transferred to the nomadic dimension of living on water.
The studio has earned an international reputation for innovative design concepts in many areas of architecture and boasts a multi-disciplinary nature. Among the many prizes received is the Compasso d’oro for the Wally Shaka in 2008.
