Videogallery.Gea Casolaro. The poetry of commitment
lives between Rome and Paris. For more than twenty-five years, her work has investigated, through photography, video, installation and writing, our relationship with images, current affairs, society, and history. Her research aims to activate a permanent dialogue between experiences and people, to expand the capacity for analysis and knowledge of reality through the points of view of others.
In 2009, she was artist-in-residence for nine months at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, where she worked on her Still here project, which dealt with the relationship between photography, cinema, and everyday life in the French capital.
In 2011, during the LIV Venice Biennale, Italian pavilion in the world, she exhibited a series of works on the theme of the border at the Italian Cultural Institute of Strasbourg.
In 2015, she resided at the Italian Cultural Institute of Lima to work on a participatory art project. Her solo exhibitions With the view of the other, at the Macro, Museum of contemporary art in Rome, and In the body of the city, an exhibition spread out in three locations in the Roman capital, a project commissioned by the Museo Laboratorio della Mente are dated respectively 2017 and 2018. Her most recent work is Arbor vitae. Down the weapons from hands (2019) is an installation created with some students from the Academy of Fine Arts of Catanzaro in the Museo delle Reali Ferriere Borboniche in Mongiana, Calabria.
