Tribute to a great film and fashion photographer loved by the stars
A master photographer who was among the best loved in the Italian film industry who with the special light of his portraits made an unmistakable mark in film and fashion: three years after his unexpected death the Istituto Luce Cinecittà is paying tribute to Francesco Escalar.
Around 70 works on show dedicated among others to masters such as Bernardo Bertolucci, Robert De Niro, Giuseppe Tornatore and Ferzan Ozpetek, the appeal of actresses such as Monica Bellucci, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Valeria Golino, Asia Argento and Sabrina Ferilli and the talent of protagonists such as Stefano Accorsi, Christian De Sica, Giuseppe Fiorello, Alessandro Gassman, Kim Rossi Stuart and Carlo Verdone.
“He marked with the rhythm of a metronome our changes, our growth, our existence. Francesco leaves us the lives of others captured for ever in his shots, testimony and memorial to his art and his love of life”. Gabriele Muccino
The exhibition has been produced by Istituto Luce Cinecittà thanks to the contribution of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism – Film Department. Curated by Luigia Greco Escalar, organized by Camilla Cormanni for Istituto Luce Cinecittà, exhibition design by Martino Crespi.
