A selection of films and documentaries recounting one of Italian art’s golden seasons.

Pino Pascali, Jannis Kounellis, Gino De Dominicis, Mario Schifano, the L’Attico gallery in Rome, the Arte Povera movement. In the videogallery, a month of screenings is dedicated to legendary stories and artists who have made contemporary history.

A selection of films and documentaries collecting unpublished video material, interviews and rare images shapes the story of a golden season of Italian art. Different narratives intertwine, uniting the gazes and testimonies of directors, gallery owners, artists and art critics who give voice and body to the great protagonists of Claudio Abate’s photographs.

The videogallery screening is linked to Claudio Abate’s exhibition superficie sensibile – at MAXXI until 4 June – which, in over 150 images, recounts fifty years of contemporary art and each artist’s relationship with their work.
