Nature 04/04 UNStudio

6 December 2013 – 13 April 2014
Motion matters
Gallery 2a
curated by Alessandro D’Onofrio

The exhibition/installation Motion matters series brings to a close the Nature cycle in which MAXXI has been experimenting with a different approach to monographic exhibitions, choosing to compare and contrast in order to explain the most advanced research within contemporary architecture.

The site specific installation by the Dutch architectural studio UNStudio presents a number of projects from among their numerous and well-known built works.
Involving the public in a dynamic and stimulating debate, the UNStudio group will be questioning the traditional concept of the architectural exhibition. The very object exhibited is not just a display case, an object to be looked at, but interacts with the visitor and requires their active participation to construct and special and surprising experience.
The exhibition investigates this theme, the ways in which movement, space and perspective inform space and the way in which the visitors physically experience the effects of these three determinant architectural parameters.
