The faces, the fears, the uncertainties and the dreams of the millennial generation recounted by 10 young artists
An exhibition featuring young artists talking about young artists: this is Generation What? with which MAXXI is participating in the second edition of Contemporary Roma, the city of Rome’s project supporting emerging creative talent.
The point of departure is the online sociological survey of the same name promoted at a European level by EBU – the European Broadcasting Union – in 2016 and in Italy by RAI – Radiotelevisione Italiana – that reached over a million young people of between 16 and 34 years of age.
10 young artists – photographers, performers, video artists, sculptors, draughtpersons – were called to interpret the results of the survey through their artistic and expressive research: Mattia Ammirati, Francesco Capponi, Chiara Fazi, Andrea Gandini, Iacopo Pasqui, Jago, Paolo Raeli, Daniele Rosselli, Valentina Sommariva and Livia Sperandio.
The exhibition is accompanied by live performances, talks with bloggers and influencers, screenings and musical events in silent mode, innovative and interactive forms of participation.
A project curated by the students of the VII edition of the Master in the Management of Artistic and Cultural Resources, promoted by the Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Italia e Mediterraneo and by the IULM Free University of Languages and Communication
With the patronage of RAI – Radiotelevisione Italiana; organized in collaboration with Associazione culturale ZIP – Zone di Intersezione Positiva, Associazione culturale Roerso Mondo, Associazione culturale Leggi Scomodo, Associazione di promozione sociale Urban Experience, Associazione AMUSE, Associazione Artisti 7607.
The initiative is part of the Contemporaneamente Roma 2017 programme promoted by Roma Capitale Assessorato alla Crescita Culturale and in collaboration with Siae.
