A journey through literature and film with one of America’s most renowned writers.
James Ellroy is one of the greatest crime writers of the last thirty years and one of the most original and influential voices in contemporary American literature. Among his major works are the Los Angeles tetralogy (Black Dahlia, The Big Nothing, L.A. Confidential and White Jazz) and the Underworld USA trilogy (American Tabloid, Six Pieces of a Thousand, Blood is Stray), as well as the memoir My Dark Places. With Perfidia, set in California during the Pearl Harbour years, he inaugurated a new tetralogy dedicated to Los Angeles, which This Tempest followed.
His works have made numerous films, including James B. Harris’s High-Risk Investigation, Curtis Hanson’s L.A. Confidential, Brian De Palma’s The Black Dahlia, and David Ayer’s The Night Doesn’t Wait.
