In 1992, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Essegi publishing company, Alighiero Boetti presented his publisher with a complete original edition of lithographs in the A4 format, signed and numbered in 100 copies by the artist.
Out of this has come BOETTI A4, a book by Annemarie Sauzeau, for years the artist’s companion and a continuing witness to and fundamental interpreter of his artistic career, with the contribution of Hans Ulrich Obrist.
Rigorously “Boetti-esque” in appearance – international A4 format hardback, bound in red cloth with the title impressed in gold – the book is enhanced through the use of different papers: the author’s essay entitle ‘AB A4’ and the dialogue between her and Hans Ulrich Obrist are printed on a recycled paper and furnished with images of works by Boetti and previously unpublished documents. There follow 11 “A4” images by the artist: ten full size, colour reproductions of drawings by the artist and, at the back of the book, an original print by Alighiero Boetti from 1992.
