Implications and significance of a changing metropolis
Thursday 3 July, 20.00
MAXXI Piazza, YAP Space – admittance free
curated by Insula Architettura Ingegneria with Based Architecture
Recently, a number of public spaces in Istanbul have become a symbol and central location of an on-going debate that starts out with the Turkish city and opens to include the entire world. Now more than ever, Turkey in general and Istanbul in particular are experiencing intense economic and cultural change that without doubt implies close links with urban development and the morphological mutation of the territory, in a dense weave of urban politics, the rewriting of history, economic expansion and collective-paradigmatic participation of contemporary metropolises.
