William Dalrymple, who features in the second event in the programme entitled Urban Landscapes – Indian Case Studies, is a leading western travel and history writer and one of the greatest experts in Indian culture. His books represent an elegant combination of erudition, narrative ability and transcultural analysis and have received numerous international awards.
The conference, presented by Silvia Ronchey, will focus on his second book, City of Djinns, the first fruit of his love for India, in particular Delhi, a city that is an “inexhaustible mine of stories”.
The following day, Tuesday 26 June, Dalrymple will read from his book The Last Mughal: The Fall of a Dynasty, Delhi 1857.
The event is open to the public, reservations advisable: info@keats-shelley-house.org
