MAXXI Piazza, Spazio YAP – admittance free
Following the first event last February, this weekend sees the return of Light On, the season of encounters in which leading architects and design professionals illustrate with a contemporary and visionary gaze the relationship between form, technology and light organized by iGuzzini in collaboration with MAXXI.
The protagonist of this second event is Atelier Bow-Wow an architectural practice located in Tokyo and founded in 1992 by Yoshiharu Tsukamoto and Momoyo Kajima. The in-depth investigative work the pair conduct distinguishes them from the more prestigious Japanese studios. What characterises them, in fact, is their research: an investigation into vernacular micro-architecture that attempts to bring logic to beat on the urban complexity of modern metropolises.
In their architecture Bow-Wow attempt to put into practice principles drawn from existing examples, altering them to create a new reality. Great importance is given to the use of space, its sharing and occupation. In private building, the proposals provide for the abolition of all partitions to create a continuous but organized space, while the stairs and landings are used to emphasise this continuity.
Students from the Roma Tre Faculty of Architecture who follow the cycle of conferences are offered 2 CFU.
Participation in the conference entitles those enrolled in the Rome Order of Architects to 2 professional credits.
