Born out of the collaboration between the Fondazione MAXXI and the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia, MAXXI Live Music is a programme offering the museum public a chance to explore the history of contemporary music.
With a cycle of 10 evening concerts, the programme staged in the museum halls features the young talents of the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia playing pieces by leading figures in the history of 20th and 21st Century music: from Igor Stravinskij to Philip Glass, from Astor Piazzolla to Ryuichi Sakamoto and through to the experimental acousmatic installations and the original jazz pieces written by the musicians for this initiative.
The exhibition gallery spaces and the works on show will consequently establish relationships with the music, enriching and completing both the visitor experience and the cultural offer of the first national museum devoted to the contemporary arts.
