The two artists are very different to one another but both have dealt with images in movement since the 1960s. MAXXI is devoting two seminars with screenings to Paolo Gioli and Ugo Nespolo, creators of experimental films, both moderated by Bruno Di Marino, a researcher in audiovisual experimentation.
Nespolo’s films have been screened and discussed in the world’s leading museums.
On the occasion of the presentation of a monographic edition of Rivista di estetica, a book of 200 pgaes with contributions of a aesthetic-philosophical nature regarding his artistic career and his filmmaking in particular. And also in view of the publication of the book Appunti per un’intuizione (printed in just 80 copies) produced by the artist himself together with the philosopher Maurizio Ferraris.
During the seminar there will be a preview of Nespolo’s new short film, Shades on the Couch and screenings of a selection of his other films re-edited and re-scored for the occasion, inclduing Boettinbiancoenero about an exhibition of Alighiero Boetti and the representation of a new version of La galente avventura del cavaliere dal lieto volto with Lucio Fontana and Enrico Baj.
Along with Ferraris, a lecturer in theoretical philosophy at the University of Turin, the film historian Paolo Bertetto and the curator and art critic Danilo Eccher will also be participating.
