Bernard Khoury
The Lebanese architect Bernard Khoury, director of the DW5 studio, will meet the MAXXI public and present his work that draws form and inspiration from Beirut, the city of his birth.
Khoury’s installation for the Space exhibition at MAXXI is a capsule in the shape of a bomb large enough to house a man. It is a prototype of a device in which a hypothetical tourist could be dropped to their death in the Fun Fair of the ruined city. With this act Khoury is refuting the exoticism associated with the war that the West fosters with regard to Lebanon and the Middle East in general.
