books at MAXXINelle vene di Bruxellesby Paolo Valentino
As we approach Holocaust Memorial Day, an event dedicated to the new novel by journalist, writer, screenwriter and television author Roberto Genovesi, where photography narrates the cruelty of the extermination camps and the horror of Nazism.
On 27 January 1945, Red Army troops entered the Auschwitz concentration camp, confronted with evidence of one of the most monstrous war crimes in modern history. Along with the Russian soldiers, a handful of photographers and reporters also pass through the gate. Among them is Vady, a Ukrainian boy in his late teens who, after seeing his parents die at the hands of the Germans, has volunteered to provide his little brother with protection from the Soviet Red Cross.
