On the occasion of Asiatica Film Festival, Taiwanese directors and video artists describe a country and its fascinating “flowering” of moving images.

Taiwan island has been for centuries one of the main cultural, geopolitical and economic meeting points of the Far East. With three days of screenings, Flowers of Taiwan is a sort of journey, a recon from cinema to video art: protagonists of the festival are the works by Taiwanese directors and video artists in an emotional trip between cultural syncretism, identity and tradition.
From the classics of the Taiwanese contemporary cinema of the master Tsai Ming Liang, to the movies of the new generation of filmmakers, until nowadays with the video artists born in the digital era such as Yin Ju Chen, Chia-Wei Hsu, Yu-Chin Tseng, and Chia-En Jao. The story of a country and its fascinating “flowering” of moving images.
