Meeting Le Corbusier is the series of events devoted to the great Swiss architect, sculptor, painter and remarkable thinker of his time. Experts from the sector investigate different episodes from the career of the father of modern town planning, thus offering a comprehensive overview of this versatile figure.
With the conference Le Corbusier designer – Meubles et Interieurs 1905-1965, closes the cycle organized within the ambit of the exhibition L’Italia di Le Corbusier.
The speaker will be Arthur Rüegg, professor of Architecture and Design in the Department of Architecture of the Zurich Federal Polytechnic.
The author of the book Le Corbusier. Meubles et Interieurs 1905-1965, , published in 2012 by the Fondation Le Corbusier and Scheidegger & Speis, his studies fill a major gap in the research on design and the interior design of the Swiss master.
The essays trace Le Corbusier’s evolution as an interior designer, from the first designs to the minimalist creations of his maturity by way of the famous manifestos from 1920 and 1930. There is also a detailed discussion of the collaboration with Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand.
Introduced by
Marida Talamona, curator of the exhibition L’Italia di Le Corbusier
