Aino and Alvar Aalto, Nils-Gustav Hahl and Maire Gullichsen founded Artek in 1935 as “sales and propaganda platform for the new housing ideology.” The company aimed to sell Aalto’s design products and to promote a modern living culture through exhibitions and other educational means.
