The history and future of the motorway from infrastructure to a socio-cultural device of technological innovation and integration with the landscape.

The exhibition, realized in collaboration with Autostrade per l’Italia on the occasion of the centenary of the construction of Italy’s first motorway in 1924, presents historical projects and construction sites in progress.

The chronological thread of events is reconstructed among period photographs, author’s photos and the new photographic commission entrusted to Iwan Baan: from the heroism of the first half of the last century to the productive and hypermodern acceleration of the second half of the twentieth century up to the technological innovation for efficiency and sustainability of the current scenario and even more of the future.
