A series of seminars reflecting on the meaning and value of themes such as identity, reception and migration.
Directors, anthropologists and sociologists will be meeting the public in the museum piazza, amidst the suggestive YAP MAXXI 2016 installations in order to explore the key issues of the exhibition Benvenuto! Sislej Xhafa.
The protagonists of the first seminar are the ironic and scathing artist Sislej Xhafa herself, together with the director Gianfranco Rosi, winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlin Festival with Fuocoammare, the documentary film recounting the tragedy of the migrants and the welcome they are afforded by the people of Lampedusa. They share the same pressing need to discuss urgent and dramatic issues of our time such as migration, inclusion and identity.
PROGRAMME:
6:30 PM
Screening of the documentary film Fuocoammare (107 min. Italy, France 2016) by Gianfranco Rosi
8:30 PM
Seminar with Gianfranco Rosi and Sislej Xhafa
Moderated by Hou Hanru and Luigia Lonardelli, co-curators of the exhibition Benvenuto! Sislej Xhafa.
