A one of a kind project in Italy based on the continuing education of a group of young architects with the objective of nurturing a new class of professionals responsible for their territory and its valorization.
Named after the room assigned to Senator Renzo Piano at Palazzo Giustiniani, the G124 group intends to provide concrete responses, in particular with regard to the urban peripheries described by Piano himself as the cities of tomorrow.
The three case studies, Catania, Rome and Turin, are emblematic situations in which urban expansion has frequently been uncontrolled and construction work has often been interrupted in the initial stages, leaving many works incomplete, abandoned and in a state of decay. With the launch of a series of micro-projects, it has been possible to trigger participatory processes of planning and transformation in synergy with the resident citizens and the social and political institutions.
