Yacht Architecture Program. Naval architecture seminars
YAP Space – MAXXI Piazza
curated by Domitilla Dardi
The relationship between architecture and yachting has historical roots: from Le Corbusier to Renzo Piano many architects have seen in yacht design an aspect of habitation rich in opportunity for reflection.
MAXXI plays host the Yacht Architecture Program, three seminars with some of the leading international figures in the field who will be discussing their work in terms of land, water and wind.
Tuesday 10 September, 20.00
New Themes in Interior Yacht Design
with Massimo Paperini
The series of seminars closes with Massimo Paperini, founder of Duck Design, a studio focussing on the new design frontiers, in particular the latest generation yacht designers.
Paperini began working in the sector in 1974 and as a naval designer in 1980, concentrating on the design of IOR racing yachts that won a world championship and numerous national and international championships. Between 1985 and 1990 he was the FIV team manager at the world offshore sailing championships and the Admiral’s Cup. In recent years he has developed new designs and worked on refits for maxi-yachts and to date has designed penned over 400 one-off and production boats.
The event is part of YAP MAXXI 2013 – Summer Program
