The symbolism of the female veil in relation to diverse and multiple social, cultural, philosophical, religious and analytical strata.
On the basis of the exhibition Echo and Narcissus. Portraiture and self-portraiture in the MAXXI and Gallerie Nazionali Barberini Corsini collections, two study days bringing together, under the umbrella of an aesthetic, philosophical and psycholanalytical umbrella, a number of areas of consideration that intersect transversally with the major themes of the exhibition .
Saturday 20 October, in the Sala dei Marmi, Palazzo Barberini, three conferences will be held around the principal themes of identity, narcissism, the creative relationship between mind and landscape and the inter-generational dimension of the human trauma.
In conclusion, on Sunday 21 October MAXXI will be staging an event entitled Il Trasparire d’altro, in order to focus attention on the symbolism of the female veil in relation to diverse and multiple social, cultural, philosophical, religious and analytical strata of the visible-invisible and body-psyche polarities. The Fil rouge is therefore is that path of awareness through images that from the graffiti of Lescaux to contemporary art mysteriously inspires and supports every symbolic construction tending towards the intimate and communal sense of existence.
