Educational project regarding the exhibition Please Come Back. The world as a prison?
When?
February – May 2017
Schools involved
Istituto Tecnico and Liceo Scientifico “B. Pascal” (Rome)
On the basis of a number of themes tackled in the exhibition – the prison as a visible physical space and as an invisible virtual space and satellite surveillance of communications – the project, aimed at a second level secondary school class, intends to stimulate reflection on physical and virtual prisons and the control exercised over our lives by Internet and social media. Works on these themes will therefore be analysed, including the video Temps Mort by the Algerian artist Mohamed Bourouissa. The project provides for the direct involvement of the artist who, through the presentation of his work, will help the participating students to explore the complex issues in question. The students will participate in workshops at the museum and at school and will make a short film – from the writing of the script to the actual shooting – about their daily lives and the extent to which they are influenced by the use of Internet and social media. A professional videomaker will guide the participants in the making of the short, revealing the secrets of the profession.
Wednesday 17 Maya day dedicated to the presentation of the work undertaken by the students and the first screening of the short film. The day was also an important opportunity to discuss the experience and evaluate the project as a whole.
