What does it mean for an artist to title a work “Untitled”? Chiara Ianeselli explores the functions and implications of titles in art, from their origins to contemporary practices.

Through a journey that starts with abstract Expressionism and moves on to Minimalism and Arte Povera, the essay that inspired the meeting explores Untitled as an artistic choice, capable of questioning the relationship between language and vision, and of transforming the experience of a viewer who encounters an untitled artwork into a direct encounter with the form and meaning of the work itself.
