Miralles Tagliabue EMBT
Gallery 1 – admittance free
Founded in Barcelona in 1991 by Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue, the EMBT architectural firm has realised projects of international interest such as the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, the town hall in Utrecht, Holland, and the Gas Natural offices and the Santa Caterina market in Barcelona. Characterised by an extremely poetic vision, its conceptual structures reveal an extraordinary harmony between tradition and innovation.
Change the environment observing and respecting the site,
its history and culture is at once a challenge
and a new opportunity for learning.
With offices in Barcelona and Shanghai, EMBT operates in a multicultural working environment and always tends to conciliate exploration and experimentation with compositional rigour.
Awards won by the firm include the National Prize of Catalonia 2002, the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2005, the Spanish National Prize in 2006, the City of Barcelona Prize in 2005 and 2009, the FAD 2000, 2003 and 2007 prizes and the WAF 2010 and 2011 prizes.
