The rediscovery of craftsmanship, tradition, which is innovated by mechanical weaving procedures.

On the occasion of the exhibit of the work Retina, created thanks to the Italian Council 2018 funding, produced by the Malvina Menegaz Foundation and curated by Simone Ciglia, the museum meets Stefano Arienti to retrace the stages of his career and to talk about the participation in the project.

The work starts from a photographic matrix that, through a screening process, is transformed into a tapestry, for the creation of which the artist had to work with an excellence from the Abruzzo region, Arazzeria Pennese, founded more than fifty years ago. The rediscovery of craftsmanship and tradition that innovate also through mechanical weaving procedures is at the centre of this project, which has been recently acquired for the MAXXI Collection.
