Contemporary art as an instrument
of social inclusion and reflection
From Friday 19 June (opening at 12.00 noon) to Monday 22 June the work Sleepers II by Francis Alÿs, part of the museum’s permanent collection, will be exhibited free in the Ostiense Station underpass.
This initiative is part of the Festival d’arte Contemporanea Inchiostro depARTure, conceived and developed by Zoe Impresa Sociale, in collaboration with MAXXI and Centostazioni SpA – Gruppo FS Italiane and Gruppo SAVE.
On Friday 19 June, the exposition at Roma Ostiense will be enhanced with the performance Parole Passeggere by the artist Elena Bellantoni.
The processes of fruition and education
experiment with new forms and new places of actuation
The staging at the Roma Ostiense Railway Station of a work from the permanent collection that talks about marginality represents an opportunity to actuate an audience development strategy that attracts new visitors as well as being the cornerstone of a series of artistic, social and cultural events that MAXXI, through its education department and ZOE are presenting in order to extend the possible interpretations of the work through the participation of and sharing with the people in transit.
