Sunday 17 March
MAXXI piazza and MAXXI B.A.S.E. – admittance free
12.00, performance by Tamarin Norwood and Rossella Rubini
15.00 round table
17.00 performance by Maria Crispal and Dagmar Schurrer
Art exchanges is an interactive event born as a joint venture between the MAXXI Education Department, the Artakt research unit at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in London and the cultural association BMIdea.
The event sees the participation of four artists – Tamarin Norwood (video artist) and Rosella Rubini (pianist), Maria Crispal (performer), Dagmar Schurrer (video artist) – and the organizers of ArtEx, an exchange project regarding artists in Abruzzo and London, winner of the competition “Giovani Protagonisti” promoted by the European Community and the Abruzzo Region.
At 12.00 in the MAXXI piazza there will be a workshop during which Tamarin Norwood and Rossella Rubini will be working on the dismantling and recomposition of a musical performance. On the basis of this research the public will be involved in a communicative experience featuring the music.
At 15.00 at al MAXXI B.A.S.E., the four artists together with the ArtEx curator Marina Wallace and the organizer Chiara Natali will be taking part in a round table moderated by Michele Trimarchi, during which they will discuss the creative process involved in their collaboration. This will be an opportunity for the public to gain an insight into the experience of developing a cultural project.
At the end of the day, at 17.00, Maria Crispal and Dagmar Schurrer will involve the public in a new performance through the use of visual materials as they edit and recomposed a work that reflects the principal themes of their shared research: the female figure, the symbolism of the mountain and the characters of the commedia dell’arte.
