MAXXI B.A.S.E. Meeting Room – admittance free while places available
curated by Sara Marini and Alberto Bertagna
The seminar The depth of the city intends to underline the urgency of a return to the practice of constructing within the constructed, formulating scenarios in relation to the development of the city and the reuse of the existing.
The evident fragility of the Italian territory highlights the limitations of horizontal urban spread, no longer a sustainable city model. At the same time, structures and spaces that no longer respond to contemporary demands require refurbishment and conversion.
From rules and regulations to town planning, from technology to architecture, the papers will suggest methods and motives, ideas and advantages of a New National Planning Law.
The depth of the city will examine the issues proposed by the exhibition RE-CYCLE. Strategies for architecture, the city and the planet (at MAXXI through to 20 May).
Speakers:
Alberto Bertagna, architect. IUAV University, Venice.
Daniela Besana, researcher. Pavia University.
Fulvio Cortese, researcher. University of Trento.
