The Padiglione Italia project is the result of an international competition organized by Expo 2015.
Of the 68 participating studios, the winner was the Nemesi&Partners project providing for the construction of the permanent Palazzo Italia building and the temporary buildings of the Cardo.
A symbol of the great contemporary creative factory
An urban forest. A ramified “skin” designed by the Studio Nemesi as the external envelope of Palazzo Italia which evokes a figurativity that is both primitive and technological.
The project, connoted by bold experimentalism, is distinguished by an attention to technological innovation and a sustainable approach combined with the skills and know-how of the Italian firms involved. Considered to be an architectural and constructional challenge for the complexity and innovative nature of its design, materials and technology, Palazzo Italia, the only permanent Expo building, reaches a height of 35 metres, representing the highest point of within the Universal Exposition site.
