Born in 1970, Davide Quadrio is the Director of the MAO Museum of Oriental Art in Turin, Italy. He has worked in China in the field of arts and culture for over two decades, curating, producing and supporting the development of contemporary art. Alongside his entrepreneurial and organisational activities in the field of cultural production, his experience is fuelled by a deep understanding of the economic mechanisms and international networking that support artistic production and communication. He founded the BizArt Art Centre, the first non-profit workshop in Shanghai, which he directed for over a decade, and established Arthub, a production and curatorial proxy active in Asia and around the world. He has also been artistic director of the Bund18 creative space and curator of contemporary art at the Aurora Museum in Shanghai. Since October 2020, he has been a visiting professor at the IUAV University of Venice in the Department of Arts and Architecture.
Through collections ranging from China to Japan, India to the Islamic world, this is a place that recounts traditions, spirituality and artistic visions in dialogue with the present.
Museums in Transition is a series of meetings dedicated to the challenges contemporary museums face today, focusing on the need to remain relevant in a rapidly changing society.
