seemed unbreakable, as was the case with gold. Innovation and technology allow us to give it new forms, offering citizens new payment methods and the flexibility that suits a complex economy such as today’s.
Furthermore, now more than ever, it is urgent to respond to the challenges posed by crypto-assets and stablecoins with an even greater drive for innovation, protecting European citizens and our monetary sovereignty. In this context, the digital euro would be a powerful tool for unity, strategic identity and sovereignty.
