Encounter with Pieter Hugo

Lectures di Pieter Hugo

Wednesday 30 November, 18.00
MAXXI B.A.S.E. meeting room – admittance free

MAXXI is pleased to present the eagerly-awaited encounter with Pieter Hugo on the occasion of the opening of Permanent Error, the museum’s exhibition of the work of the South African photographer.

Pieter Hugo has made e-waste the subject of one of his most fascinating projects, presenting an atmosphere somewhere between the bucolic and the infernal, in which figures wander around bonfires and piles of high-tech waste while cows and oxen placidly graze amidst the toxic miasmas rising from the ground. A catastrophic scenario with a further warning being launched in the title.

The 27 photographs in the exhibition, curated by Francesca Fabiani, document the Agbogbloshie shanty town in Ghana, one of the world’s largest digital dumps.
