Through archival materials, the exhibition narrates key chapters of Del Debbio’s four-decade-long involvement in this extensive and intricate project (1926–1968).
Imprinting his visionary mark on the site, Del Debbio conceived an architectural and landscape masterpiece in which buildings would interact harmoniously with the surrounding nature, and marble -used both structurally and decoratively – would play a central role in shaping his personal poetics, balancing classicism and modernity.
The Enrico Del Debbio Archive, one of the first to be included in the MAXXI Architecture collection, documents the architect’s career from 1909 to the 1970s, focusing particularly on his most significant work: the Foro Italico complex.
The archival materials interact with contemporary photographs by Begoña Zubero, specially created for the exhibition.
