I’ve been making photographs for 40 years.
You don’t exercise a craft as a passion without reflecting on the meaning of what you’re doing…
Ferdinando Scianna
Employing a discursive style, with a wealth of cultural and human references, Ferdinando Scianna leads us through his world, made up of photography, personal passion and great vigour. The photographer’s “themes and minor obsessions” run through Obiettivo Ambiguo, the writings of which were collated in book form for the first time in 2001. Over the years, the book has become a classic of its kind, a rare example of the active observation of practitioners, publishing projects, exhibitions, habits and theories in the field of photography.
A way of thinking about photography as a reflection on life, on history, aesthetics and ideas.
Out of print for some time, the book is now presented by Contrasto in a new revised and updated edition with new texts and enriched with images. This is the third book by the great photographer and narrator for the series In Parole, following the success of Ti mangio con gli occhi and Visti&Scritti.
