more information

A film that follows Ferdinando Scianna on a journey through memory, images and reality.

Entering his life means retracing an existence of encounters with some of the giants of twentieth-century culture, interwoven with questions about the meaning of photography and the significance that producing images can still have. Scianna asserts the specificity of photography, freeing it from being a form of art. He attributes to it the irreplaceable function of probing reality, in an age when images seem to hide more than they reveal, and reality seems on the verge of disappearing. We will see him in action during a trip to Bagheria, as he goes to find old friends he photographed in his youth and wants to photograph again. We will see him searching for traces of Sciascia. We will see him in Milan, as he unravels the thread of his life to tell us about it, trying to restore that something that makes photography a wonderful adventure and a destiny.
