From 6 May come and explore our creative revolution!

The museum designed by Zaha Hadid is transforming and reconfiguring its spaces, starting with the permanent collection, and opening itself still further to the city with numerous innovations in its cultural offer and services.

The new presentation of the permanent collection, the spaces for which have been tripled, is entitled The Place to Be and begins in Piazza Alighiero Boetti which features three new large-scale installations: Mareo Merz by Elisabetta Benassi, Anima by Mircea Cantor and Winter Moon by Ugo Rondinone, and proceeds in Galleries 1 and 2. The piazza thus becomes integral with the interior spaces, from the lobby with a reading room that introduces the collection and host meetings with artists while a space devoted to the Archivio degli Incontri Internazionali d’Arte renders the museum’s documentary collections more accessible. Moreover, a video gallery will offer a permanent presentation of monographs, retrospectives and reviews.

The MAXXI revolution also passes by way of the rethinking of the internal reception areas, starting with Typo, the new cafeteria-bookshop which moves into room in the former barracks conserved in Zaha Hadid’s original project that, with its access onto Via Guido Reni, creates a new entrance to the museum atrium and allows the façade of the pre-existing building to be conserved.
