IaN+

IaN+ (Carmelo Baglivo, Luca Galofaro and Stefania Manna) was formed in 1997 and is based around a nucleus of three people with different educational and professional backgrounds. The objective of this multidisciplinary studio is to constitute a place where the theory and practise of architecture overlap and meet. The IaN+ studio’s areas of activity take in projects on diverse scales, from interior design to public works and urban and territorial planning.
Among the various projects currently being completed: a reception structure and linking spaces for the new Ospedale del Mare in Naples, a “Green Quality Point” for a swimming pool and sports centre in the Travertine Arch area in Rome.
The elementary school at Herat in Afghanistan, co-designed with the ma0, 2A+P/A and M. Cutuli studios will be completed in 2011.
IaN+’s projects The Goethe House, The Mies van der Rohe Foundation and Microutopie are part of the permanent collection at the FRAC Centre in Orléans, France.
In 2006, IaN+ won a Gold Medal for Italian Architecture at the Milan Triennale for its first built work and in 2010 it was nominated for the international “Iakov Chernikhov” prize.
In 2010 the group published the book Modelli (Libria publishers). Their first monograph was published in 2007: IaN+ – New Ecology (AADCU Publications, Beijing, China). They have participated in various international architecture exhibitions including: ArchiLab 2000, 2001, 2002, Orléans; Venice Biennale of Architecture 2000, 2004, 2008, 2010.
