Three seminars with readings and reflections on the craft of writing.
One of the most prestigious and sought-after Italian literary prizes that for almost 70 years has inflamed cultural passions and debates, for some writers the Premio Strega has represented the consecration of a long career while for others it has acted as a powerful launching pad. Three prize-winning authors – Edoardo Albinati, Antonio Pennachi and Alessandro Piperno – talk about themselves through readings and reflections on the craft of writing, in the light of that formidable watershed that winning the prize has represented for them.
In the first seminar in the Stregati al MAXXI series, the museum piazza is hosting Edoardo Albinati who, with his latest book La scuola cattolica (published by Rizzoli), has won the 70th edition of the Premio Strega.
Edoardo Albinati was born in Rome in 1956. For over 20 years he has taught in the Rebibbia penitentiary, an experience narrated in the diary Maggio selvaggio (Mondadori 2001). His reports from Afghanistan and Chad have been published by “Corriere della Sera”, “La Repubblica”, “The Washington Post”. He has written film scripts for Matteo Garrone and Marco Bellocchio. His latest books include Tuttalpiù muoio with Filippo Timi (Fandango 2006) and Vita e morte di un ingegnere (Mondadori, 2011). He is the winner of the 70th edition of the Premio Strega with La scuola cattolica (Rizzoli, 2016).
