Why Artivism

Gian Ferrari Room – admittance free

Why Artivism is a public marathon reading of the Hannah Arendt text “Le Origini del Totalitarismo”.
A transnational event that will take place simultaneously in diverse European cities: in Belgrade at CZKD, in Lisbon in the Ulisses space, in London at Rivington Palace and in Paris at the Plateau/Frac Ile de France.

Why Artivism intends to reflect on the potential of art and activism, on the current political situation and on totalitarianism and all forms of individual and collective surveillance. The event has been organized in support of artistic freedom and the project by Tania Bruguera: the International Institute of Artivism – Hannah Arendt, the objective of which is to contribute to an understanding of the role and efficacy of art.

From 12.00 AM to 8.00 PM extracts from the text will be read by artists, intellectuals, activists and researchers.

On the occasion of the opening of the Transeuropa Festival 2015, from an idea by Transeuropa and Alternative Europe.
