Towards an organoleptic architecture / Building in wood

Towards an organoleptic architecture / Building in wood

Friday 1 October 2010, 15.00–20.00
MAXXI Auditorium

Wooden architecture will be the focus of the international conference Towards an organoleptic architecture / Building in wood Wooden buildings in fact represent one of the most significant trends in contemporary construction and place respect for man and the environment at the heart of architectural design.
With wood, architecture that is perceived with all the senses can be created: this is the concept of “organolepticity” represented by the image-symbol of the conference, the wooden sculpture Avaton by Nunzio (on permanent show at MAXXI), as Alberto Alessi, moderator and director of the periodical materialegno, will illustrate in his introductory presentation.
The experience of the speakers, arriving from Japan, Switzerland, Norway and the United Kingdom, demonstrates the myriad possible applications and interpretations that such a versatile material as wood offers to the designer.
